With solid lyrics and infectious grooves, John Mayer has outdone himself on his recent album “Continuum.”  While maintaining the sound that appeals to the masses, Mayer has infused his pop style with a depth that is not too often found in the mainstream music market.  His subtle prodding of the Iraq war (“Waiting on the World to Change”) is only the introduction to an album that does everything from address blind faith to newfound as well as waning love.  To top it off, Mayer even covers Jimi Hendrix in “Bold as Love.”  But the most admirable aspect of the album is the fact that Mayer coproduced, as well as wrote almost the entire album.  While not formerly a fan, I have been made to see the error of my ways and may go back and listen to the rest of Mayer’s music.  Though I’ll probably skip the more popular tunes that most E-ville bands like to cover.
